Frequency and Duration
Hourly between 5:40am and 5:40pm. Typical duration is 10-30 minutes but the process will run longer if more than 400 records need to be addressed district-wide.
Source of Checkout Information
Destiny is taken as the source of truth for the circulation of student iPads and site-purchased iPads that were issued to students.
JAMF Information
User and location information, as well as the display name of the device are updated based on who the devices is checked out to, which school, grade level, and teachers the student is enrolled with, and whether the device is "Checked Out" or "Available".
Prerequisites
- Serial Number must be present on the iPad record in Destiny
- Circulation information must be up-to-date in Destiny
- Device must be in active inventory in JAMF and not be unsupervised
Types of Updates
Update display name, location, and user information for devices that have been activated by the same student who has the device checked out to them in Destiny. If it's a Teacher iPad, the display name is changed to "Return to Library". If it's an iPad checked out to an inactive student, the device name is changed to the standard STU-[serialNumber] convention. The only case when an inactive student should have an active checkout is an in-transit student: their record is only inactive because they're moving from one school to another within EUSD. Students who left the district but didn't return their equipment should have iPads marked as Lost in Destiny and placed in Lost Mode in JAMF promptly.
Reassign the device from a user in JAMF to a user in Destiny - same as the update process but this one looks at the differences between assigned student numbers in JAMF and in Destiny, and enforces the information from Destiny.
Wipe the user and location information from devices that are "Available" in Destiny but are still assigned to users in JAMF. Only applies to Student iPads. Display name is changed to the standard STU-[serialNumber] convention.
